What is power of attorney (PoA) and why is it needed?

Power of Attorney (PoA) is a document that authorizes a stockbroker to debit shares from a Demat account when selling holdings. If a PoA is linked to your account, you can sell holdings without having to manually authorize the transaction. PoA charges are ₹100 (one-time fee). This facility is optional. Shoonya also offers an E-DIS facility for selling holdings.
