What is exit load ?

Exit load is a fee charged by mutual funds or investment companies when an investor sells or redeems their units before a specified holding period. It is usually a percentage of the amount being redeemed and is meant to discourage short-term trading and promote long-term investing. The purpose of an exit load is to cover administrative and transaction costs associated with the redemption of units.
