What is the difference between a strike price and a spot price?

Spot price typically refers to the current market price of a security. In other words, it’s the price at which a security is currently trading in the market.

On the other hand, the strike price is the fixed price at which the holder of an option can buy (in case of a call option) or sell (in case of a put option) the underlying asset when exercising the option.
