What is an Option Chain?

An options chain is a table showing the quotes for options on a particular underlying security. It is updated in real-time and displays the last traded price, trading volume, and best bid and offer for both call and put options. It is typically segmented by expiration date. The strike price, which is the price at which the stock can be bought if the option is exercised, is also listed.
